Frequently Asked Questions

How do I add a hive?

Tap the + button on the main screen. Give your hive a name, choose the hive type (Langstroth, Top-Bar, Warré, Flow Hive, or Other), and optionally add a location and color label. Tap Save to add it to your list.

How do I record an inspection?

Open a hive, then tap Add Inspection. Fill in the details — queen sighted, brood pattern, honey stores, pest level, and temperament. Add any notes and save. The inspection will appear in the hive’s history.

Where is my data stored?

All hive records and inspections are stored locally on your device using SwiftData. We do not upload your data to any server. If you have iCloud enabled, Apple may back it up under your own Apple ID.

What does the health status mean?

HiveLog calculates a health status (Healthy, Warning, or Critical) based on your most recent inspection. High pest levels or very low brood/honey scores will trigger a Warning or Critical status.

Can I edit a past inspection?

Yes — tap any inspection in a hive’s history to view details. Editing past inspections is coming in a future update.

How do I delete a hive?

Swipe left on the hive in the list and tap Delete. This will permanently remove the hive and all its inspection records.

I accidentally deleted a hive. Can I recover it?

Unfortunately, deletions are permanent and cannot be undone. We recommend reviewing before deleting.

How do I change the hive color?

Tap a hive to open it, then tap Edit in the top right. You can change the color label from there.

How do I request a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com to request one.
