Frequently Asked Questions
How does Chainline know when a part is worn out?
Each part has a replacement distance (and, for things like sealant or fork service, a time interval). Chainline adds up the distance ridden since the part was installed and shows how much is left. When a part reaches its limit it is marked Replace now, so you know what to swap before your next ride.
How do I add my rides automatically?
In Settings → Apple Health, turn on Import rides from Health, choose which bike the rides should be added to, and allow access to workouts. Chainline reads your cycling workouts (starting with the last 30 days) and adds their distance to that bike. Tap Import now to fetch the latest. Rides that were already imported are never counted twice.
My bike computer doesn’t save to Apple Health. What can I do?
Some bike computers don’t write rides to Apple Health. In that case, open the bike and tap Log ride to enter the distance by hand — wear is calculated the same way.
What happens when I replace a part?
Open the bike, swipe left on the part (or touch and hold it) and choose Replace. The distance on that part starts again from zero and a service record is added to the bike’s history.
What is free and what does Chainline Pro add?
One bike with all wear tracking, Apple Health import and service history is free. Chainline Pro is a one-time purchase that unlocks unlimited bikes, moving parts between bikes (their distance is kept), and CSV export and full backups. There is no subscription.
Can I use miles instead of kilometres?
Yes. Switch units in Settings → General.
How do I restore my purchase on a new device?
In Settings, tap Restore purchase while signed in with the same Apple Account you used to buy Chainline Pro.
How do I back up or move my data?
With Pro, use Settings → Back up everything to save a full backup file, then Restore from backup on your new device. Your garage is also included in your normal iPhone backup.
How do I request a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
